Electrophoresis is oftentimes preceded and followed by the need to detect and quantify. Before loaded onto a gel, a sample’s protein or nucleic acid concentration needs to be determined. After the gel has been run, certain steps must be carried out in order to visualize and detect the bands.

Quantify your DNA, RNA or Protein samples on the Hoefer DQ300 Fluorometer or the Hoefer Vision Life Science Spectrophotmeter

Visualize the resolved bands on your stained gels on a transilluminator. Hoefer’s MacroVue line of UV transilluminators or combination UV-white light transilluminators have UV filters and flicker-free light tubes for excellent visualization.

Dry your stained gels to preserve your results. Gels and blots can be dried using a Hoefer gel dryer which can range from classical oven type dryers, that are easy-to-use and economical, to vacuum based dryers, that can be used to dry gels as large as sequencing gels or large format 2D gels.

Hoefer also carries a UV cross-linker for hybridization and mutational studies.
